Records Tumble at Annual Sprints Gala

Well done to all the swimmers who took part on in our annual Sprint Gala and made it
such a great competitive evening of swimming. 326 new personal bests were set, 134 North
Lancs qualifying times were achieved and 12 club records were broken! Many
races ended with fingertip finishes making the finish judge's job a very
difficult one.
In the earlier gala for swimmers aged 6-9, Daisy Dixon, Robert Moir and
Alistair Moir all took clean sweeps of gold medals in their age groups. The
following new club records were set:
Charlie Ashworth 9yr girls 50m Backstroke
Alastair Moir 9yr boys 50m Backstroke
Daisy Dixon 6yr girls 25m Butterfly
In the later gala for swimmers aged 10 and over, Hannah Procter, Megan
Davidson, Abigail Procter, Oliver Murray and Will Murray all took clean
sweeps of gold medals in their contested age groups. Harry Paige and Philip
Sellars also took 5 golds but their age groups weren't contested. The
following new club records were set:
Jack Stanley 10yr boys 50m Backstroke
Will Murray 14yr boys 50m Breaststroke
Megan Davidson 12yr girls 50m Butterfly
Will Murray 14yr boys 50m Butterfly
Will Murray 14yr boys 50m Freestyle
Harvey Griffin 10yr boys 100m IM
Will Murray 14yr boys 100m IM
Harry Paige 15yr boys 100m IM
Philip Sellars 17yr boys 100m IM
We also presented Dean with all the cards and collection for his honeymoon.
Amazingly, nobody had given the game away so it was a complete surprise to
Dean. Both Rachel and Dean would like to thank everyone for their
generosity. Thanks also to everyone who helped out at the gala - it wouldn't be possible without all our volunteers!

Dolphins have a Regional Champion!
Will Murray (pictured above centre) swam at the North West regional championships at the
Manchester Aquatics Centre in June and smashed his personal
best to claim GOLD in the
100m Freestyle for 13yr old boys. Swimming against the best swimmers from
Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire, Will narrowly
scraped into the final after his heat didn't go as planned! However, he
pulled his best swim ever out of the bag in the final to surprise all the
other qualifiers. His time of 58.01secs also qualifies him for the
National Championships in the summer. This is a great achievement for Will who has had his eye on qualifying for the Nationals all year and
his hard work is paying off. Will also finished in 5th place in the 100m
Butterfly and another Dolphin's swimmer, Elliot Norman, finished 5th in
the 200m Breaststroke for 10yr old boys.
